There are many resorts around Walt Disney World to fit all kinds of budgets. Disney offers 3 tiers, Value, Moderate and Luxury. You also have Luxury Villas and a campground for those wishing to rent a cabin or have an RV. What resort you stay in will depend on different factors, such as cost, location to the parks, wether or not you have transport so it's best to make a list with your family as to what is important most to you. Below is an overview of the resorts.
Parking is free at the Walt Disney World Resorts so this is something you don't have to worry about.
The value resorts are Pop Century, All Star Music, All Star Movies, All Star Sports and Art of Animation. Each resort has 1 or more pools, different dining options which are all food court style so easy grab and go options from burgers to pizzas, pasta and salads as well as desert options.
Pop Century and Art of Animation Resorts are located in the Wide World of Sports area which is close to Hollywood Studios and Typhoon Lagoon.
Pop Century you have the transport options of taxi, Bus and the Skyliner. Art of Animation also uses the Skyliner as well as bus and Taxi options. The Skyliner route can take you to other resorts such as Disney's Caribbean Beach and the Riveria, as well as going to Hollywood Studios and Epcot.
Pop Century offer 2 room types, a standard room and a preferred room, both of which you can have with a pool view if you wish though this typically costs more but looks nicer. All rooms for Pop Century fit up to 4 people.
Art of Animation offers 2 room types, standard room - The little mermaid, sleeping upto 4 people. You then have the suites, Cars, Nemo and the Lion King, all sleeping up to 6 people. You can have connecting rooms if you have a larger family.
All Star Music, Movies and Sports are located in the Animal Kingdom area which is close to Animal Kingdom and also Blizzard Beach. These 3 resorts sit close together and are themed each to their own area. All 3 have the bus for transport as well as taxi.
All Stars Music offers standard and preferred rooms as well as suites. The standard and preferred sleep up to 4 people and the suites are 6 people. All Stars Movies and Sports offers standard and preferred rooms only, sleeping up to 4 people.
The moderate resorts are Caribbean Beach, Port Orleans Riverside, Port Orleans French Quarter, Coronado Springs and The cabins at Fort Wilderness. Each resort has 1 or more pools, with different food options which include grab and go items as well as restaurants. Each resort will vary in food as each location has food which suits each resort, such as Caribbean Beach will have Caribbean citrus chicken and seafood whereas Port Orleans will have offers such as Gumbo, fried chicken and beignets so it's good to view the menu's on the Walt Disney World website to see what your family would prefer.
Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort is located in the Epcot area which is also close to Hollywood Studios and Typhoon Lagoon and offers taxi, bus and the Skyliner as transport options. The rooms offered at this resort are standard and preferred, some with a water or pool view for an extra costs. These sleep up to 4 people however there are a few options which is called is a 5th sleeper room and has a pull down bed so it could fit 5 people. It also offers a king size bed for those smaller parties sleeping up to 2 people.
Disney's Port Orleans Riverside and Disney's Port Orleans French Quarter resort is located in the Disney Springs area which is a shopping complex.
Port Orleans Riverside offers standard and preferred rooms, which you can also choose a wood, pool or river view for a bit of an extra cost. These sleep up to 4 people however there are a few options which is called is a 5th sleeper room and has a pull down bed so it could fit 5 people. It also offers a king size bed for those smaller parties sleeping up to 2 people. If you want something extra special, they offer the Royal Guest rooms, either a wood, river or pool view. These are themed rooms with an interactive headboard that has shooting fireworks (lights not real ones, lol 🤣) the genie lamp for your bathroom, as well as Disney Princess's on the walls.
Disney's Coronado Springs is located near Disney's Animal Kingdom Resort Area and is close to Animal Kingdom and Blizzard Beach. They offer an array of rooms types, from standard, preferred, suites and executive suites, these vary sleeping from 4 - 8 people depending on room type and some come with a water view for extra cost. They also have a king room which sleeps up to 2 people.
The Cabins at Fort Wilderness is located in the Magic Kingdom Area and has bus, taxi and boat options for transport. It offers different dining options from grab and go options to restaurants. With the Cabins, they can sleep up to 6 people and have a full kitchen, private patio and living area which is great for those wishing to do some home cooking rather than eating out. There are also areas should you be renting a RV and doing a fly drive holiday.
The Deluxe Resorts are: Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge, Disney's Polynesian Resort, Disney's Grand Floridan Resort and Spa, Disney's Wilderness Lodge, Disney's Beach Club Resort, Disney's Contempary Resort, Disney's Yacht Club Resort and Disney's Boardwalk Resort. You also have the Swan and Dolphin hotels however they are not owned by Disney but you would still get some perks from staying there like free transport and extended Magic hours. They all have 1 or more pools to enjoy as well.
Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge is located in the Animal Kingdom Area and offers taxi and bus for transportation. Club level is offered at this resort if you are looking for a more luxurious stay. Rooms offered at this resort are: Resort View, Water View, Savanna View in variations of standard sleeping upto 4 people, a King bed sleeping upto 2 people, suites sleeping upto 8 people which offers a fridge, tea and coffee station. They also offer studios which sleep upto 4 people and have a kitchenette, fridge, microwave, tea and coffee. Their villa's can sleep upto 12 people and they offer a full kitchen, dining and lounge area plus a washer and dryer.
Disney's Polynesian Resort is located on the Monorail near Magic Kingdom and offers Taxi, Monorail, Bus and Boat Transportation. Club level is offered at this resort if you are looking for a more luxurious stay. They offer rooms that sleep upto 5 people and you can choose from a Theme park view, Resort view or a water view. They also offer suites, Bungalows which sleep upto 8 people, Deluxe Studio's which sleep upto 5 people but come with a small kitchenette which has a fridge, a microwave, toaster and coffee maker.
From 17th December 2024, the new tower will have been built and the rooms they offer are Studio, sleeping upto 4 people, Duo Studio, sleeping upto 2 people, a Villa, sleeping upto 9 people depending if you choose a 1 bed or a 2 bed villa which comes with a small kitchenette that has a fridge, a microwave, toaster and coffee maker. The Penthouse which can sleep upto 9 people and comes with a full kitchen, living and dining room, washer and dryer.
Disney's Grand Floridian Resort and Spa is located on the monorail and offers, Taxi, Monorail, bus and boat for transportation. Due to it's location, they offer rooms with a theme park view, Resort, Lagoon and Water View. Club level is offered at this resort if you are looking for a more luxurious stay.Most of these rooms sleep upto 5 people. They have a wonderful spa at this resort, perfect for a massage after a long day at the park. They also offer suites though most only come with a beverage cooler rather than a fridge though the much larger suites, ie Grand Suite, do come with a fridge. Also being offered is a King room which sleeps upto 3 people.
They offer studios as well which can sleep upto 5 people and offer a small kitchenette which has a fridge, and microwave. The villa's can sleep upto 9 people and come with a full kitchen, living and dining room, washer and dryer.
Disney's Wilderness Lodge is located in the Magic Kingdom area with bus, taxi and boat for transportation. They offer rooms with a Fireworks View, Resort and Water View which can sleep upto 6 people. The King rooms can sleep upto 2 people. Club Level is offered at this Resort as well. They offer Villa's as well which can sleep upto 8 Adults, and come with a full kitchen, living and dining room, washer and dryer. With this Resort they do offer cabin's which sleep upto 8 adults, and come with a full kitchen, living and dining room, washer and dryer.
Disney's Contempory Resort is located on the Monorail with bus, taxi, monorail for transportation. You have the option to stay in the main hotel or the tower next to it and they have rooms that can sleep upto 5 Adults other than the King which sleeps up to 3 Adults. With a Resort, Themepark or water view. Club Level is also offered at this Resort. Suites are also offered and can sleep upto 10 Adults, Studios can sleep upto 4 Adults and come with a kitchenette, microwave and fridge. The villa's can sleep upto 12 Adults and and with a full kitchen, living and dining room, washer and dryer.
Disney's Beach Club Resort is located in the Epcot Area, with Taxi, boat and bus for transportation offering rooms with a Resort or Water View. Some rooms can sleep upto 6 Adults other than the King which can sleep upto 2 Adults. Club Level is also offered at this resort. They do offer suites which can sleep upto 8 Adults and include a fridge, tea and coffee station. The studios offer a kitchenette with a fridge and microwave and sleep upto 5 Adults. The villa's sleep upto 8 adults and come with a full kitchen, living and dining room, washer and dryer.
Disney's Yacht Club Resort is located in the Epcot Area, with Taxi, Boat and bus for transportation offering rooms with a Resort or Water view sleeping upto 5 Adults. The suites sleep upto 8 adults though this is club level only.
Disney's Boardwalk Resort is located in the Epcot Area, with Taxi, Boat and bus for transportation offering rooms with a Resort, Water or Garden View sleeping upto 5 Adults. The suites can sleep upto 8 Adults, though this is club level only but does come with a fridge, coffee and tea station. Also on offer they have the Studios sleeping upto 5 Adults and come with a kitchenette with a fridge and microwave. The Villa's can sleep upto 4 Adults and come with a full kitchen, living and dining room, washer and dryer.
Now, you also have the Riviera Resort which is a Deluxe Resort and it does offer Villa's, you can choose either a standard or preferred view, sleeping upto 9 Adults other than the 3 bedroom villa which sleeps upto 12 Adults. There is a tower studio which sleeps upto 2 Adults, with a murphy bed that pulls down and also turns into a sofa.
