Disney has 2 water parks for you to enjoy and depending on which time of the year you go will depend on which water park will be open. Pre covid times, during the summer both water parks used to be open together, however since reopening, only one of them is open at a time whilst the other one is being refurbished. Parking is free.
Both are wonderful and you'll have a great time no matter which one you are at but there are some differences between the two parks.
Blizzard beach is well, covered in fake snow to look like, well, you guessed it, a Blizzard! 🤣 Disney has updated the kids area which is now themed to Frozen where you have Anna and Elsa as young children with the little snow marshmallows for added extra and it's very cute to see.
The best ride in this water park has to be summit plummet where you go plunge down 12 stories at high speeds and this slide is 360 foot long! Just ensure you have suitable swimwear otherwise you're gonna loose it!
Typhoon Lagoon
Typhoon Lagoon is based on the boat that got shipped wrecked due to the large, typhoon. The boat that is atop the mountain in the middle of the park is called "Miss Tilly".
There are so many different rides here, the large open water space in the middle of the park as a huge wave that comes and goes and it's such fun just bobbing up and down when the waves come crashing down on you. 😀
There are slides, rafts and even a lazy river to take a nice ol float down. There is something for everyone here to enjoy.
At either park, there are different food choices to choose from, salads, burgers, wraps, rice bowls, flatbreads, french fries, hot dogs, even a turkey leg! Not to mention the ice cream, if you really want to push the boat out, go all out and get the ice cream pail! That is big enough to share between 4 people!
For those who drink alcohol, both parks offer refreshments to cater to this, from beer to wine and different cocktails. They also offer non alcoholic cocktails, sodas/water. You can purchase a souvenir cup which you can refill all day for free (soda's/water only) which can be a real money saver to share between the family.
There are a few shops at the parks where you can buy towels, swimwear and anything swim related you might have forgotten, ie, sun lotion or swim goggles.
Lockers are available in the parks which you do have to pay for and prices will vary depending on the size of the lockers you require, $10 standard and $15 for a large but you can open and close it as much as you like as you rent the locker for the whole day. Towels are also charged so take your towels with you from your hotel to save money.
